4 Things You Need to Know About Angled Ceiling Speakers

Most people would love to have angled ceiling speakers but don’t know where to begin. With electronic and audio technology developing in leaps over the years, installing these speakers at home or a user’s work-space has become an incredible way of getting indoor audio without sacrificing floor-space for standing models. They can be used anywhere in the home where they need to match a user’s décor.

A person who has a home with little floor space, or who doesn’t want messy wires everywhere and bulky bookshelf speakers that spoil his décor, can use these speakers as a fantastic addition to his sound-system set up. So before a person sets up these speakers, here are four things he needs to know.

    • The Number Angled Ceiling Speakers Needed In a Room

These speakers are bought in pairs, with one speaker designed to play the right channel of the audio and the other, the left channel resulting in a real stereo sound. It’s recommended that a person uses one pair of speakers for a room that measures 3×3 meters. For rooms that are bigger than 5×5 meters, two pairs are recommended as they will offer a sound output that’s more balanced.

Other people also recommend having more speakers, especially in large rooms, because they give a wider native disbursement pattern. The speakers and their angles may be smaller. However, if they are many, a person will get an excellent sound quality.

    • The Positioning of The Speaker

If a person has a house with unconventional room layouts, they need to buy these speakers. A single stereo speaker should be installed at the center of the ceiling for perfect distribution of sound. On the other hand, two or more speakers should be placed at least 2 metres apart from each other, and their angles should also be similar. Positioning the speakers at around 60º will give the user the best sound quality.

    • Powering And Control

Angled speakers are powered and controlled using two options:

Active speakers have an in-built amplifier that requires a mains connection directly to the speaker. They can therefore be controlled through Bluetooth or Wi-Fi from a user’s device.

Passive speakers, which are more common, on the other hand require an external amplifier to power them through a speaker cable. The external amplifier allows the user to control the speakers using Wi-Fi and an app on his device. That app even allows a user to group the speakers into zones if they have many amplifiers.

    • Outdoor Usage

Outdoor angled speakers have been popular for some time. They are normally disguised as rocks hidden among plant pots, or mounted on wall cabinets. There are models of these speakers that are designed to resist damp environments while sounding excellent to enable a user enjoy their music outdoors. They are however not designed to be fully exposed to driving snow or rain.

    Conclusion

Technology has made it possible to have angled speakers to match our homes’ décor and preferences. These speakers have great sound output when balanced well in proper angles and distances. When using them outdoors, care needs to be taken not to expose them to direct water.
