Running a school holiday shop is not an easy venture, especially when you have little idea of how it works. Running a school holiday shop is the perfect way to raise money during the holiday period, and inculcate the lifestyle of exchanging gifts between kids in your school.  You tend to kill a lot of birds with a stone when you run a school holiday shop. This is why we have come up with the usual mistakes that people get into when they run a school holiday gift shop by themselves, to prevent you from making the same mistakes.

It won’t be a bad idea if you use this as your blueprint to ensure that your school holiday shop fulfills its purpose.

Trying To Get Everything Done On Your Own

Some people think running a school holiday shop is too easy that even a novice could do so. You see them saying that they have run garage sales before, meaning that operating a school holiday shop would be a walk in the park. If you share such a thought, it is important that you kill it.

You may think that you can do everything on your own because you want to save money. When you run into issues, instead of asking for help, you turn the blind eye because you feel that it won’t be hard running a school holiday shop.

We have come across those that went to the dollar store to get things, to resell them, and they ended up confirming that things weren’t as easy as they thought it would be.

Don’t be scared to ask for help when you are starting or run into any issues.

    Don’t ignore the extras

Many times we have seen schools that worried only about how they would stock their school holiday shop with merchandise but ignored other aspects of running the business. They forgot about how they would get kids to buy the gifts for their friends, classmates, and other loved ones. Many of them ended up not coming up with a marketing plan. To them, as long as they had the merchandize, they could easily sell them.

Have you thought about how you would get the parents involved in this? Have you thought about how you would get the thoughts of a gift shop ingrained in the minds of the kids? A lot needs to be thought about. What if your customer service?

    Don’t buy JUNK

This is something that many schools do, and it is saddening because they end up losing the trust of their clients. The fact that you want to buy affordable items to sell them for an affordable amount shouldn’t force you to go for junks.

If you do, you will have clients that will spend their time, complaining about how your merchandize are worthless.

You want to get compliments from families, telling you that their kids picked out great gifts. If you do this well, you stand to raise a lot of money during the next holiday.

Making everything complicated in your school holiday gift shop

At this moment, you may be wondering if this is hard to do and if you will achieve it without stress. A lot of propelling feel that whatever they touch would flop, and do not bother to put much effort into it. When you feel that it would flop before it started, you may end up running into complications.

Fear comes, we understand. Everyone nurses fear when they are starting a new project. When you have great staff and parents around you, you can easily use their help to make the idea a success.

When you have conceived the thought of running a school holiday shop, the first thing you should do is to get others on board with it. Don’t try to do everything yourself. Avoid the urge for that. Get others involved. What you lack in strength, they will be there to pick you up?

Be sure to choose School Holiday Shop to help you meet your fundraising needs.
