Revaluation is a way of getting the exam papers rechecked to see if there is any way to get back the marks that the students have lost in a subject. The examiner might have overlooked some answer or the other. Most students of Classes 10 and 12, who believe that the marks they received are not as good as expected, might go for revaluation of the answer papers.

Opting for the process of revaluation or not depends on how the student has fared in the examination. Now, there are ways in which a student can apply for CBSE revaluation. They can either go for totalling/verification of marks or rechecking of the question paper.

Ways of Applying for Revaluation Process

Some options that are adopted by the students to apply for the revaluation process are given below:

    1. Verification of Marks
    2. Photocopy of Answer Sheets
    3. Revaluation of Answers
    4. Difference Between CBSE Revaluation and Rechecking

Miscalculating the marks is a common occurrence and a standard human error. It is seen that many students have gained more marks, following a re-calculation of marks. Meanwhile, if the students are confident that their answers are correct, but the marks are not as expected, then they can challenge the evaluation process. They can opt for re-checking of the answer papers.

    Facts About Rechecking and Revaluation

    Rechecking of Answer Papers

    1. The CBSE rechecking process was introduced long back and is still in continuation.
    2. Rechecking the answer paper means to re-calculate the marks.
    3. Examiners check the marks given by the previous examiner. He/She only checks if the previous examiner made any calculation mistakes.
    4. The process is applicable for Classes 10th and 12th and can be done for all the subjects.

    Revaluation Process

    • Revaluation process, introduced in 2014, was discontinued in 2017, but then was implemented again.
    • Revaluation is done by another examiner, who does not have access to the marks given to a particular answer by the previous examiner.
    • During the process, the evaluator checks the evaluation mistakes for each answer and assigns new marks.
    • The process is applicable for Classes 10th and 12th and can be done for a maximum of 10 questions.

Now, suppose any student has to give their paper for revaluation or rechecking, they will have to understand how the marks are allocated to each step for a particular question. The best way to know this is to refer to the CBSE marking scheme appropriately. By knowing this, they will also get to know the importance of answering a question in steps. The marking scheme is also found on the official site for the students to download and check.

Students have to analyse the answer paper properly and ensure that the answers are written accurately, as expected as per the marking scheme. Then they can then opt for revaluation or rechecking of marks, as per their requirement. Now, students can also send the answer paper for revaluation or rechecking. Doing so is the best way to ensure that the students do not lose any marks, which they would otherwise get for some correct answer or the other. Hope that students find these details about revolution helpful.
