Spring has almost sprung in Arizona and there are plenty of things to do in North Phoenix near the Sky Crossing community.
Arizona is known for its amazing weather, especially in the springtime. You can expect sunny skies with temperatures in the 70s and 80s. Luckily, there are many outdoor events in North Phoenix where you can enjoy the fantastic weather.
Golf Courses
This is the perfect time of year to get some golf in and luckily, there are many amazing golf courses in the area.
Wildfire Golf Club
Just down the road from Desert Ridge sits the Wildfire Golf Club. This course was designed by Arnold Palmer and has breathtaking views of the desert. Wildfire Golf Club is known for keeping the course in great shape. It opened 30 years ago and the conditions of the greens are better than ever. It is more of a difficult course, but the two-time championship golf course also offers plenty of practice areas.
Troon North Golf Club
Troon North Golf Club is located in Scottsdale and winds through the Sonoran Desert with natural washes, saguaros, and lush greens. Another well-maintained golf course, this is a favorite for locals that dates back to 1989.
Festivals
Of course, there are festivals throughout the year in Phoenix, but what better time to go to a festival than in the spring?
Innings Festival
During the last weekend of February, you can get a chance to enjoy the outdoors while listening to some great music at the Innings Festival at Tempe Beach Park. The Spring Training Celebration festival features music from Dave Matthews Band, Death Cab for Cutie, Weezer, Dr. Dog and plenty more.
M3F
Another terrific festival is M3F. The festival takes place in downtown Phoenix at Margaret T. Hance Park on the weekend of March 6th. This is a popular yearly festival that seems to get better each year. This year’s lineup includes Bon Iver, Stick Figure, San Holo, The Funk Hunters and more!
Spring Training
Arizona is home to the Cactus League, where you can catch a number of different teams like the Chicago Cubs, Kansas City Royals and even the Arizona Diamondbacks. There are baseball fields across the valley, with games all day long and occasional evening games. Throughout the entire month of March, you can find multiple games each day, all complete with concession stands and fun! Plus, it is the best way to capture that Arizona sunshine!
Hiking
Arizona is home to plenty of amazing spots to hike, all which have incredible views of the desert, but the best spot to hike is Camelback Mountain. This is where you can really capture the beauty of northern Phoenix. The mountain is named after its shape, which looks like the hump and head of a camel kneeling. It is a prominent landmark in the area and is a great spot for hiking or to be a little more adventurous and go rock climbing.
To get the most out of your spring day, you can start it off by hiking followed by a round of golf and then ending the day with a spring training game!
